Happy Xmas Yer Arse
So last night, I was about 10 feet from Shane McGowan, Spider Stacey, Jem Finer and the rest of The Pogues.
Damn. What a fantastic show. They played all the best songs off Rum, Sodomy and the Lash and If I Should Fall From Grace with God, a scattering of other tunes from EPs and such, the first encore was "Fairytale of New York" with one band member's daughter singing the Kirsty McColl part and dancing with Shane as glittery fake snow fell, then 3-4 more tunes, and finally an insane version of "Fiesta" with Spider bashing his head against a metal ... thing... hubcap? I dunno... over and over then tossing it into the crowd.
I never expected so many Japanese people would know the words and sing along to so many drinking songs, and be so willing to throw their arms around us and each other and dance in a line or a circle. God damn, what a fun time.

Followed it up with fish n' chips and Magner's cider at Murphy's, and there was even a fight with broken bottles and a guy tossed out. WOO!
